BOSS Academy Radio - Real Business Ownership Success Strategies: Entrepreneur, Small Business, Coaching, Start-ups

I've been performing improv comedy for more than a year and have found an amazing creative outlet. During my divorce, when I was depressed and highly stressed, I was guaranteed laughs every week. Improv truly saved me, but it gave me so much more.

One of the gifts of improv comedy is the concept of Yes/And. This concept is used to always drive forward another actor's ideas, instead of shooting them down. If you tell me you're a buffalo and I tell you that you're crazy I have shot down your idea. Instead of a fun scene where we leverage the gift you brought to the stage, I've robbed you of your creativity and created something that the audience is less likely to enjoy. In business, we often shoot down creative ideas. We come up with a million reasons why it won't work. What if we leverage a yes/and mindset? We don't have to agree with every idea, but we can take that idea and leverage it as a creative starting point. It's an opportunity for brilliance to shine, but also we lift others up instead of shooting them down.
